IPL 2025: How Rinku Singh met his fiancé Priya Saroj, the youngest woman MP – The Times of India

Indian cricketer and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Rinku Singh often makes the headlines. While much is written about his on-field performance, the ace cricketer keeps his personal life away from the limelight. Earlier this year, Rinku Singh made the headlines yet again– but this time for some major developments in his personal life. News is that Rinku Singh is all set to take his relationship with Priya Saroj, who is a lawyer-turned-politician, to the next level by tying the knot soon.
The news was confirmed by Priya’s father, SP MLA from Kerakat Tufani Saroj while speaking to PTI in February 2025. Mr Saroj had shared that his family had some “meaningful talks” with Rinku Singh’s father in Aligarh on January 16 for their children’s marriage and both the families had agreed for it.

Priya Saroj was introduced to Rinku Singh through her friend, whose father is also a cricketer. They knew each other for over a year during which their friendship blossomed and the duo decided to take their relationship to the next level with the respsctive families’ consent. “Rinku and Priya have known each other for more than a year now. They both liked each other but needed the consent of their families for their relationship. Both the families have agreed to this marriage,” Priya Saroj’s father, Tufani Saroj, told PTI.
Reports suggest that both Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj’s families had met at the cricketer’s home in Aligarh. They exchanged ‘shagun’ and gifts, and their matrimonial alliance was fixed.
Who is Priya Saroj?
While Tufani Saroj is a three-time Member of Parliament and a Samajwadi Party (SP) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), his daughter Priya Saroj too is a politician. A resident of Karkhiyaon village, Varanasi, UP, Priya Saroj is a graduate in Arts from Delhi University after which she earned a law degree from Amity University, Noida. Priya then worked as a Supreme Court lawyer for sometime, which she quit to become a politician– just like her father.
Priya Saroj first shot to fame while campaigning in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls for her father.
She has been a member of SP for many years, and was elected as a Lok Sabha member from Machhlishahr constituency, Jaunpur district in 2024. She was just 25 years old then which made her the youngest woman MP, as per reports.
