Stock market today: BSE Sensex ends over 560 points up; Nifty50 above 23,150 – The Times of India

Stock market today: The BSE Sensex demonstrated a strong recovery, advancing by nearly 567 points whilst the Nifty reclaimed the 23,150 mark on Wednesday, driven by positive performance in major stocks like Infosys, HDFC Bank and Tata Consultancy Services, alongside robust global market conditions.
The BSE Sensex concluded at 76,404.99, showing an increase of 566.63 points or 0.75 per cent, after reaching an intraday peak of 76,463.13.
The NSE Nifty displayed similar momentum, rising by 130.70 points or 0.57 per cent to finish at 23,155.35, with an intraday high of 23,169.55.
Notable gainers amongst Sensex constituents included Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharmaceutical, Bajaj Finserv, HCL Technologies, Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, IndusInd Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank.
The declining shares comprised Tata Motors, PowerGrid, Axis Bank, State Bank of India, NTPC, Tata Steel and Adani Ports.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services stated, “The benchmark indices rebounded amidst heightened volatility following better-than-expected results from a major private bank. The IT sector led gains, recovering from recent losses, while mid and small-cap stocks continued to underperform due to valuation concerns.”
European markets showed positive movement on Wednesday. In Asia, Tokyo and Seoul finished positively, whilst Hong Kong and Shanghai ended lower. The US markets closed higher on Tuesday.
Brent crude, the international oil benchmark, traded 0.49 per cent higher at USD 79.68 per barrel.
Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 5,920.28 crore on Tuesday.
The previous session saw the BSE Sensex decline by 1,235.08 points to 75,838.36, whilst the NSE Nifty decreased by 320.10 points to 23,024.65.
